Tri-City Junior Youth Symphony

 

Who can belong?

Any middle school age string student is eligible to become a member. This group will use the exact same schedule as the TCYS. Additional information can be obtained by e-mailing Christa Speed, conductor of TCJYS.

Is there a fee?

Each activity will have a separate fee.

Why a junior symphony?

The Tri-City Youth Symphony for high school students has been in existence for 30 years. There have been may students of middle school age that have expressed an interest in starting an ensemble for middle school players, so the Tri-City board decided that 2002 would be the right time begin.

Who is the conductor?

Christa Speed received a Bachelor of Music Education from the University of Nebraska at Kearney and a Master of Music degree from the University of Nebraska at Omaha. Speed is a string teacher for the Grand Island Public Schools, is the principal cellist for the Hastings Symphony Orchestra and is a member of the Hastings Symphony String Quartet.
