Camerata to Perform at MONA

Thursday, April 15, 7:00 pm

The Camerata orchestra is an advanced instrumental ensemble, started for select Kearney High School orchestra students in 2007. In the past four years, the members of this group have won the overall outstanding ensemble in the Music in the Parks Festival in Denver, and superior ratings from every judge that has ever heard them. They also have played for several state and national conventions as well as with the Kearney Area Symphonic Orchestra and the Strictly Strings music Festival in Grand Island.

Individual accomplishments for the Camerata members throughout the past four years include: 33 members have been selected for the Nebraska All-State orchestra and 81 students have performed in the Hastings, Wesleyan, and Omaha Honor orchestras.

The Camerata’s repertoire for Thursday’s concert will include: Mozart’s #136 Divertimenti and a work written by Jean Henderson in the memory of Larry Maupin; Grand Island High school orchestra teacher, and Mr. Klein’s former orchestra director. Soloist will include violinist Sebastian Nabb, recent winner of the Nebraska Meadowlark solo completion, and other small ensembles will perform. The Camerata is under the direction of Dave Klein, who is in his 21st year of teaching in the Kearney Public Schools.
