Well as you can see, Mrs. Ellenwood didn’t waste her Friday off.  After a little help from her new friend, Linda, at UNK and a new spirit of “why not take a chance and see what happens,” the website will now have a blog.  If this works, you will be able to subscribe and then be notified every time there is a new posting.  As you can see, this page will connect to our podcasts.  I will try one of our podcasts from this summer.  If it is a success, then you can expect more.  We just bought a new microphone  and there are at least three students ready to begin creating the podcasts  so we are almost up and running.  The final step will be to submit these to itunes.  In the meantime, keep your fingers crossed.

Tomorrow night is Platte Concerts at UNK.  This one features Dr. Chen, violinist, and Dr. Buchner, pianist.  The concert will be French composers only.  The concert begins at 7:30 and is free.  These two musicians are amazing.  Great way to get concert attendance points.

Speaking of Concert Attendance.  The online form should be up and running later this week.  This will be just in time for you to start acquiring  points before the dreaded end of the quarter rush.  You will need to designate to whom you want your report to go to.  We will be using this form with all orchestra students.  The only item that will change at each grade level is the amount of words.

All-state auditions are a little less than two weeks away.  As you see the high school students that will be auditioning, wish them the best of luck.  Also we will be needing help at auditions.  The jobs include door monitors and runners.  If you have time on Saturday, Oct 13 from 7:00-10:00, 7:00-11:30, or 7:00-12:00, we could sure use you.  The pay is breakfast at 7:00.

Finally, the first orchestra concert of this school year will be Monday, Oct 15 at 7:30 pm.  This is the annual high school plus the new fifth graders (0ver 100).  This year the 7th grade will also be performing a couple of tunes.  This will help them get used to playing for an audience before they go to Lincoln.
